Whenever I think of Summer florals, I always think of that moment from The Devil Wears Prada; in which Miranda Priestley says “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” Really I just can’t help myself.
It’s just one of those things: every year, after the Spring/Summer collections have walked down the runway, there is at least one fashion pundit who makes the ultimate error – the declare that florals are going to be really big. Like really? Florals aren’t big every year? But there is always the one who feels the need to reiterate that. Truthfully, I’m not the biggest fan of most florals. For some strange reason, I find most of the motifs to either have a strange color scheme, weird scale issues, be too busy, or one of a hundred other reason why I’m not a fan.
However, every once in a while I come across one that I do like. This Zara top is one of those time where I actually liked it. I’ve spoken before on my strategies for shopping at Zara (you can read it here). Much like my advice, I found this within my first 10 feet into the store – no joke. I walked in, turned to the right and BAM, there it was – a floral I liked.
I do struggle I bit with this top. It’s a wrap top, which can have pros and cons when you have a larger bust size. When I sized up – the sleeves became particularly overwhelming. But in the smaller size, I couldn’t get it to lay nicely without showing some skin. So I grabbed a simple white tank I had in my apartment (also from Zara but from awhile ago) and made this pretty floral print blouse work.
I also got this great little bucket bag about a year ago. It’s been a favorite for a while now. While they no longer make it in leather, they do make a super pretty suede version in an extremely similar color that will actually carry you into fall perfectly.
