Now normally I’m not one to get holiday festive and dress for the occasion – unless it’s halloween, because really who doesn’t love dressing up for that? I’m just not normally a believer in gimmicky outfits. But really this was just too good to pass up.
Red White & Blue
There’s a bit of irony going on with the particular look. When I put this together and went to shoot it, I didn’t even think of the color scheme I had going on. It wasn’t until I was looking at the pictures on my computer that I realized how fortuitous this little look was. I picked up this red dress a couple of weeks ago and had it hanging on a hanger in my closet patiently waiting. I had this vision of wearing it with a denim jacket. But there in lay the problem – I didn’t have a denim jacket. In fact, I had been looking for a denim jacket that was comfortable and looked good for a while now. So when I found this Pilcro jacket at Anthropologie, I knew the first thing I would be wearing it with.
So as coincidental as this outfit may have been, it’s actually a great example dressing for the occasion without turning into a walking advertisement for all things red white & blue – because let’s be honest, there are some very tacky looks out there. At least with this outfit I know I will definitely wear it again. And could the bag have been any better of a match?
Happy (early) 4th of July to all of my Americans and enjoy the long weekend! Please wear your red white & blue responsibly and don’t bbq too hard!
