September is always the month with the most confusing weather. All you see is “back to school”, and “welcome to fall” but the temps are still summer warm…
Normally, I’m sweating my way through September while dreaming of wearing long cozy sweaters, drinking pumpkin spice lattes, and pulling on my booties. So far it’s actually been a little bit cooler than expected, but I’m blaming that on all the wild storms that are reeking havoc. This time last year, I was praising my air conditioner while wearing a tank top. Traditionally, transitional wear can be confusing: what exactly do you wear when the weather is warm but your brain is saying fall? Cue the fall colors.
This Free People Dress is the perfect example of September dressing. The silhouette is light and breezy for warmer weather, but with the autumn tones on a black background it feels like fall. Come on – don’t those colors just make you think about foliage and warm apple cider? Right now I’m wearing this dress by itself with mules. In a few weeks from now, when the weather cools down, I can easily throw a long cardigan over this and pair it with high boots for more of a fall look. Judging by the weather we’ve had the last few days, I might be grabbing that cardi sooner than expected.
