Subtle Scents

“A woman who doesn’t wear perfume has no future” ~Coco Chanel

Growing up, my mom had several scents that she alternated between but most memorable for me was always Paris by Yves Saint Laurent.  I love that scent and always identify it with her.  For a long time I have wanted to find a signature scent of my own, however that was always easier said than done.

Fragrances tend to fall into difference scent families: Fresh, Floral, Oriental, and Woody.

Fresh fragrances typically contain citrus, fruits, greens, and/or marine notes.  As the name suggests, woody fragrances contain notes of oak, sandalwood, and cedarwood.  Think spicy when you think of oriental scents, with notes like amber and vanilla.  And if you couldn’t guess, floral scents contain either a single or bouquet of flowers.

Each fragrance reacts differently with each persons’ body chemistry.   I tried A LOT of different scents to find the ones that I like.  The scents that I liked best for myself all fell into the floral family, specifically scents that weren’t sweet.
