The ironic part of this hat, is that I got this tartan number before I ever even thought about traveling to Scotland. Perhaps it was an omen of the future, or just a coincidence; all the same, it became wildly appropo for my trip and got instantly put on the “pack” pile once the trip was planned. There’s just something so classic and chic about the dark tartan; navy, black, and emerald green can literally go with anything and instantly elevate an outfit.
Big head, filled with brains, it’s what my mother always said. It’s a nice sentiment, but all that it means is that finding hats that fit and look good is a constant struggle – regardless of how badly I want them to work. Sometimes the best alternative is a less structured option. This particular hat is actually adjustable, which meant that I spent about 30 minutes just playing with the fit to get it “just right” when I first got it. Once I was happy with the fit, I probably spent another half hour playing with the styling. The shape is so classic and iconic but definitely requires some testing before you wear it to decide how it looks best.
Is it just me, or does my hair kind of look reddish again this hat? My hair naturally has a reddish hue, and it’s probably just a trick of the lighting, but I’d like to think that the hat was exerting it’s influence over me. And yes, I just gave this hat a soul and magical powers – but it certainly has personality don’t you think?
